Re: [Simply Computers] Trying to find my HP serial #, etc...???

Hi,

The best strategy for your computer is to use what is called the "service tag" number. I do not know if this can be accessed from within Windows, however, you can enter the BIOS on boot up (F10 perhaps) and find both the service tag and the serial number there. Using the service tag at the HP web site will give you very specific information about your particular computer.

If this trick doesn't work for you I would suggest that you just bite the bullet and pull your computer out and WRITE DOWN your service tag number then tape it to the FRONT of your PC. And, as an added benefit, you get a chance to dust that area behind your box. Heck, go ahead and take the box outside, remove the covers and blow out the dust that's inside while your're at it.

It'd be so much easier because it's impossible to get in back of it, the way it's situated; I have to use a mirror and flashlight!
