Printer problems can be a real pain. I also use an HP 6500 and luckily I've never had a problem so
far - great printer. If you google for "general printer error 061011bec", you'll see that you're not
alone with this problem. People sometimes have it just after they've unpacked the printer. At least
you've been able to use yours ;-)

Alternatively, have you tried calling HP? Here in the Netherlands at least, they offer good support
for their printers.
