The screenshots in Vincent's link show how to disable the toolbar, which is the quickest method to
get rid of it.

But if you want to uninstall it completely, one method is to download a new version of AVG Free and
reinstall the program. Then choose Repair install. There's an extra advantage to this. If you just
want a straightforward, good antivirus program without all the bells and whistles like the Security
toolbar, AVG Search, AVG Surf and all those green flags related to the Link Scanner checking each
website etc., you can remove the relevant checkmarks for these optional components during the new
repair installation.

That's why I never choose the standard installation if I'm installing AVG Free for the first time on
a computer. If you select Custom install instead of the default, you can choose exactly which
features you want. Otherwise you get the lot.

But if you feel safer with these extras, that's fine too. It's just personal preference.
