RE: [Simply Computers] Re: Disc Cleanup

I agree and disagree with you Roger...

I don't use Disk Cleaner. Can't remember doing anything more than look at
it.

I do however, run Ccleaner and Advanced SystemCare 4 in a very limited mode
to clean up the trash Windows creates. I also encourage a multi-pronged
approach to protecting yourself on the web.

Run in limited user mode and you'll probably be more safe than 99% of those
on the web.

Rule of thumb:

1) Never!

2) Ok, maybe that was a bit harsh, but let's face it ... Disk Cleanup is for
computers with hard drives that are almost full, or are beginning to act
weird. Your computer is new, so I presume it has a hard drive that you're
thinking you will never fill up!

3) so maybe a good rule of thumb is to wait until the computer is acting
strangely (it will ...give it time) and then you can start suspecting that
maybe you have too many cookies, Temporary Internet Files, etc., and start
doing a Disk Cleanup.

But meanwhile, you've got 16 gazillion Gigabytes to use ... Enjoy!

ps ... keep your Antivirus and Antispyware software up-to-date ...that's way
more important.
