[Simply Computers] Online backup and restore

 

A friend of mine swears by Carbonite, because it makes her feel like
someone's watching out for her. But she's never had to attempt a restore, so
how can she really have an opinion pro or con?

I'd be interested to know if anyone here (or a friend/relative/associate)
has actually succeeded in restoring their complete system from an online
backup, and if so, what site they used and how long it took. I mean where a
hard drive crashed, and the entire system was brought back in on a new
drive. Were you/they able to bring everything back exactly like it was
before the crash -- all settings and customizations, no problems with
extra-long file names, no missing email folders, no issues with very large
files?

Wikipedia has a list of Disadvantages of Remote Backup -- a little scary.
