[Simply Computers] Re: Virtual memory problem.

"Virtual memory" is actually space on your hard drive.

You'll need to make sure you have free space on your hard drive. You'll need at least 10%, but may find that you need 15% or more for Defragging.

In XP, virtual memory is set here:

START, Control Panel, open the System icon.

Click on the Advanced tab, and then the Settings button under "Performance".

Then click Advanced, and under Virtual Memory, click the Change button.

You'll see which drive is allocated for Virtual Memory. You need to make sure you have enough free space on that drive.

If you set Virtual Memory to "System managed", XP should handle it automatically.

If it's already set to System managed, and you are getting errors, change it to Custom Size and set the Maximum size to be twice as much as the memory you have installed.

let us know.
