I erroneously omitted a link that should have followed the first sentence.

Never tried this before but here's a pretty clear procedure.
I'm guessing you'll be doing this on a friend's pc as there's no escaping
the need for a dvd drive to complete the procedure. For the amount of work
involved wouldn't it be easier to purchase a dvd drive? We're talking about
$20 USD.
You don't mention the age of the machine on which you plan to install the W7
but you might want to investigate compatibility issues prior to beginning
and also make sure there are W7 drivers for all your hardware.

With respect to your other question, it should run ok but you'll have the
boot loader to deal with (assumes you were dual booting W7 and XP). A
program like easybcd should help you remove the boot loader. Depending upon
what happens to your master boot record (MBR) as a result of dissembling the
boot drive you might be looking at a repair install of W7.

Subject: [Simply Computers] Advice Needed:: Installation of Windows 7 thru
Pen Drive
Hi Experts,
I would like to install WIN 7 in my desktop which has WIN XP now. My problem
is that my PC has no DVD drive, it has only USB port. I am thinking of
installing WIN 7 thru Pen drive by coping all WIN 7 to pen drive. IS IT
POSSIBLE? If YES , then what configuration needs to do? Please advice in
detail.
My other question is that my another PC has Win XP in C: drive and Win 7 in
D: drive. After formatting C: drive, Does the Win 7 perform well or not.
