Thank you for a very thorough synopsis of what you want to do and what you've done.

Since I don't know anything about your topic area, when I googled, bootable dos cd I came up with the following. Take a look here for a boot disk options, some of which include MS-DOS. The first several hits seem particularly pertinent if I understand your message correctly.
