Re: [Simply Computers] freezing games

Have you updated your nvidia drivers through windows update in the past month or so?
If so, I had the same video card & it caused me bsod's constantly. I finally fixed it by
uninstalling the drivers, and NOT letting windows update/install any drivers on reboot.
I then used revo uninstaller on the advanced level to uninstall everything nvidia related.
There were still leftover files, so I used Driver Sweeper to get rid of that. Keep in mind
that I set a restore point before doing any of this. After everything was cleaned out, I
reinstalled the drivers using the cd that came with my video card and hid the windows
driver update so it wouldn't happen again. It appeared to be a common problem from
what I read on forums. I had no more problems for the next week, so hopefully that fixed
it all. After all that, I decided to buy a new video card. :-)

Subject: [Simply Computers] freezing games

I'm about to lose it..I've tried everything besides taking the computer and
giving it a toss out the window.

No matter how many things I turn off, as soon as I start a game, within a few
minutes the entire thing frreezes and I have to hard boot to get it to stop. The
error that comes up is always "daemonu.exe error 0xc000000d at location
0x00459c30. "
I've talked to Nvidia, microsoft and have tried uninstalling and reinstalling
drivers. The system running is GeForce 8600GT, Nvidia Graphics 270.61. on a XP
built on a asus motherboard. XP is 2002 service pack 3, AMD 64X2 Dual Processor,
6400, 3.21 GGHZ, 3.50 GB Ram.

Any suggestions from the group..? I am not a computer whiz, as you can tell, I'm
an RN who likes to play games when she's off duty and this is over the top for
me.

thank you for any help
chris
