Sure you can bail out. I tell customers who have a paid subscription to
Norton, a real resource hog, to get rid of it and use MSE or Avira. They
argue that since it is already paid for, they don't want to dump it.

I ask them what they would do if they were on a road trip and stopped
for gas. After driving away for a few miles, their car starts running
really crappy, no power, stalling, etc. So they take the next exit and
the mechanic at the nearest repair shop informs them that their problem
is that they have bought a bad tank of gas.

Would you say, "Well, I already paid for that gas, so lets just leave it
in there until it is all used up"?!!

That is about the same scenario as using a troublesome antivirus program
for 2 years just because you paid for it.
