Try booting into Safe Mode and doing a System Restore back to a time before the problem started.
To get to the Safe Mode menu, boot the computer and start tapping the F8 key on the keyboard. You should get a menu with "Safe Mode" in it.
On some computers, tapping F8 brings up a menu of boot devices to select from. Use the up/down arrows on the keyboard to move the selection to your normal hard drive and press Enter. Immediately start tapping the F8 key again, and you should get the menu with Safe Mode in it.
You may also see a selection to boot to the "Last Known Good Configuration", which is another thing you can try.
