Sometimes updates get corrupted during the download. Because the download started, but did not install successfully, your computer thinks it's a new download.
Open Windows Update and view your Update History. In there should be link on how to uninstall updates. Remove all the repeated listings and then try to download and install again.
If it still doesn't work, uninstall the update again, and then next time you get a message that a new update is available, set Windows Update to ignore it (hide it).
If you tell us what version of Windows you have, we might be able to be more specific on what to do.

Right now it shows it has been d/l 3 times and again it is telling me there is an "important update ready to d/l" even tho in the update history it shows it's there 3 times. Why do same updates keeps popping up to update and d/l and how do I stop it once it's been d/l and installed?
