Hi Anuj
You said your external drive was not being recognized by the computer, but you also said that you used a file recovery program to get your data back.
To me, this means that the computer must have recognized the drive sometime, or else the file recovery program would not "see" it either.
I assume that the file recovery program that you used runs in Windows, is that correct?
If you can get Windows to recognize your external drive again, just open My Computer and right-click on the icon for the external drive.
Then click Properties, then Tools and then Error Checking. Set it to try to fix bad sectors if possible.
If you can't get this to work, I would try the method that Ardell suggested. He has much more experience with this type of thing than I do.
One other thing to keep in mind is that the external drive case has circuitry that converts the hard drive output into USB. Sometimes that circuitry goes bad, and the hard drive can just be removed from the external case and plugged internally into the computer as another internal drive.

In the end to save my data, i used file recovery software, which gave my data back, but while using it, in the info bar, it also reported the status of sector 1 to sector 63 as poor, and afterwards from 63 to end(48 something), it reported as not good.
