The fact that "some Windows programs will not open .." is a symptom of another problem, we just can't tell what.
Do you have an antivirus program running? Is it up to date?
Have you ever run antispyware programs such as Malwarebytes or SuperAntispyware? (You should)
Windows reporting that it is an invalid copy is a common problem seen by Microsoft. It's often a problem on their end, which they will correct for you if you call them.
If they ask you for a credit card number to charge to, just explain the problem ... they should fix it for free.
But that may not be your only problem. You should make sure your computer is virus and spyware free before you call. If they determine your problem is caused by spyware, they will probably charge you to fix it.
Run the free Malwarebytes or Superantispyware, both downloadable from www.download.com.
let us know how it goes.

I now find that some Windows programs will not open and Windows only help suggest that my version of Windows is not valid. I certainly thought that the installed version of Windows was valid when I purchased it. Does anyone know how I can correct this or if this is possibly a symptom of another problem?
