Try to open drive on another system as an USB drive or by using a Linux Live CD like Puppy or Mint or Ubuntu.

You might be looking at failing hardware. If a reinstall doesn't fix your problem the next step is looking at individual hardware components.
Using Windows Explorer, I would look in My Documents, My Pictures, My Music, etc. for your data and if you locate anything that is what I would back up.
