I have been using items similar to that as a means to avoid having to
pay the high prices for IDE drives when repairing older computers. I

The transfer rate for both the one you link to and this one is 150MB/s.
The specs for USB 2.0 are lower at 60 MB/s, but USB 3.0 will allow rates
of up to 640MB/s.
