JoAnn, I have been asked by one of the members of this group to see if I(we)can help with your problem.
To introduce myself I am the president of a PC user group here in Augusta Maine. We, the Kennebec Valley Computer Society, have been in existence since 1984 serving PC users in the Kennebec Valley. We have several members who are very proficient in diagnosing and repairing PC's. We meet once a month, the second Thursday at Buker Community Center on Armory Street in Augusta. The meetings are always open to the public and you are cordially invited to attend. If you are interested in our services please e-mail me at the address above or -- driveratkvcsdotorg. (replace at with @ and dot with .) (Just to keep the spam down to a minimum)
Now on to your problem. You say that you had no problem with your computer until you added the extra 2gb of RAM. As I read the conversation you have been asked if you have removed the new RAM to see if the problem continues. I can not find your answer. Did you have the NEW memory removed to see if that is the problem?
It very well could be that the new memory has a defective memory address area that is causing your PC to reboot. Or the new memory has a compatibility issue with your old memory. I might consider contacting Staples (I believe that is where you said you bought it), tell them what the trouble is and asking them to test the memory and / or replace it. It should still be guaranteed but if not I should think they would take care of it as a customer relations point.
Please let us know if this is the cause of your problem.
Tim
