[Simply Computers] Re: System Crashed?

Roger - Okay - that was simple. Nope - Monitor and laptop screen are the same. I found it is not the video. I ran about everything on Hiren's boot disk and finally tried Mini XP. Everything showed up (looks like 16 bit) but have not been able to get to recover or restore again. Tried another and got "No PXE Stack". I ran another diagnostic and it seemed to run every file (took forever) and came back at the end of every file "did not run test folder locked." I am going to try active uneraser (some folder 29 error) again (from Hirens). Oh - on the pre boot test, everything passed. Also, I did a backup disk a while back but can't seem to find any recovery files. Did a backup (Macrium Reflect) on external drive - it took forever - but the file does not have a lot of info in it. Also, I can't get on line with this thing (I am using another laptop). Even tried using an external WIFI adapter.
Thanks,
Hagie

Yesterday, I went to play an old video while cleaning up the drive and after about a minute, the screen went black but the sound continued. I waited and after a fashion I tried cont/alt/delete but nothing came up. I never got a picture os any kind and did a force shut down. Yhat was kind of THE END!! I restarted the computer and it came back to life briefly and then went black. I managed to try "system restore" and black screen again. Tried my back up disk - black screen.I get as far as starting windows with the icon, then black scrren again. The cpu running light runs briefly and then shuts sown.
