[Simply Computers] System Crashed?

 

Hey Gurus,
Think my 'puter died. I have A Dell Precision M90 Laptop. 2.0 ghz, 4gig RAM, Win 7 Pro, 32 bit. For as short period, the screen wound go black when I was typing or doing minor tasks. Yesterday, I went to play an old video while cleaning up the drive and after about a minute, the screen went black but the sound continued. I waited and after a fashion I tried cont/alt/delete but nothing came up. I never got a picture os any kind and did a force shut down. Yhat was kind of THE END!! I restarted the computer and it came back to life briefly and then went black. I managed to try "system restore" and black screen again. Tried my back up disk - black screen.I get as far as starting windows with the icon, then black scrren again. The cpu running light runs briefly and then shuts sown.
Early on, I manageged to get a complete start in saffe mode and ran full blown (30 day trial) AVA and malware bites free. nothing came up.
I have reattempted to restart in safe mode. I get the dos run thru and then all that shows up on the screen is the mouse pointer. I can't get on line with it.
What do you think crashed? What do I need to replace?
