[Simply Computers] Certified??

 

In our local phone book, there are ads for some computer technicians claiming they are 'certified'. Is there one or more certifying agency/entity; what does such a status guarantee, if anything; should some certificate be posted somewhere on the premises; where can one learn more about certification; etc, etc, etc?? Any voice of experience would be nice to hear.
