Not sure what your question is, or if you're asking one.
One question that came to my mind is what about the stock cooler?
I know you change them on all your desktops, is that for quieter operation?
Is your wife a power user? If not, then the stock cooler should be sufficient. It's engineered to work with that cpu.
I'm thinking that the stock cooler is probably much more compact, and may leave room for the extra ram.
Perhaps the super-fans are overkill in her instance?
Otherwise, I see that the former cooler has a four-way mounting option, where apparently the new one does not.
So, perhaps your question is how will the airflow in the case be affected.
The purpose of the cpu cooler, obviously, is to remove heat from the cpu, so the question is how to direct the warm air from the cpu cooler fan.
That will depend on the location of other components that may need cooling (RAM, video card, chipset, hard drives) and on what other input/output fans you have in the case.
You'll notice that the diagram for your four way cooler shows a secondary case fan, either positioned to direct air into the input side of the cooler, or direct air away from the output side.
As you said your new cooler directs air to the bottom, I assume there's no case fan there. Could one be placed low on the rear side of the case to draw out the warm air directed to the bottom of the case?
But again I'm wondering if the stock cooler would suffice in her situation.
