Are you referring to those pinned to the start menu, or those under all programs? Check if they were removed under Control Panel>Add Remove. I use Revo Uninstaller. Could they be under another user, Admin/Root? Secunia, if installed usually tells you when something is updated. Some programs change names if updated, like the i360 anti-spyware program did lately.

Subject: [Simply Computers] Programs Disappearing from Start Menu

I'm running XP Home. Normally I use desktop shortcuts to open programs; but
I happened to check my start menu and noticed that several programs are
missing. I've check in both the control panel and in documents and settings
to make sure everything is where it's supposed to be. I tried a system
restore in safe mode but the programs are still missing from the start menu.
I would appreciate any help or suggestions for fixing this.
Dan
