Re: [Simply Computers] Programs Disappearing from Start Menu

Dan, just to clarify - do you mean the programs you see immediately when you click on Start (the
list of recently used programs on the left) or the programs you see when you click on Start - 'All
programs'? This is assuming you're using the regular Start menu and not the Classic one (right click
on the Start button - Properties to see).

If it's the list of recent programs, these obviously change regularly depending on which programs
you've been using. If you're using the regular Start menu, you can alter the amount of recent
programs displayed under Start. Right click on Start - Properties - Customize - General tab. You can
change the setting there to a higher amount if necessary - up to 30 if you want.

One other thought - I don't know if you use CCleaner but there's a box in there (normally greyed
out) under System that erases all the shortcuts in recent programs if it's checked.

If you're referring to the list of programs under Start - All programs, are the missing ones Windows
related e.g. Accessories? That's a different issue.

If it's normal programs, the list of programs under 'All programs' actually comes from the Start
menu under All users in Documents and Settings, not the Start menu under your own name. If you're
missing certain programs this way, copy them in Windows Explorer from All users to the Start menu
under your own account name.
