I have downloaded and tried so many fixes (some suggested here) that I am
near being confused as to what I have tried.
The Reatek High Definition Audio Device does not show under System >
Hardware > Device Manager > Sound, Video and Game Controllers. Under Other
Devices there are 4 Unknown devices, as noted in the original email, whose
properties are: location 65535 (Internal High Definition Audio) / Driver
provider Unknown.
On one of the Unknown devices I ran 'Scan for Hardware Changes' and it
generated under Other Devices 3 x (with yellow question and imbedded
question mark) 'Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus, same location
65535, but now the device status code changed from 28 to 1 (the device could
not be configured correctly).
I am wondering on two things:
One search stated 'Audio drivers available for download from the Realtek
website are general drivers for our audio ICs, and may not offer the
customizations made by your system/motherboard manufacturer.'
I have not been able to find the Asus audio drivers for that motherboard.
On my Google search I found many other owners with the same problem with the
audio on the a8n-la motherboard but no solutions.
How can I tell if the onboard audio is still functional, i.e. can still work
with the correct drivers. I am wondering if the onboard audio is dead.
I would sure like to find the Asustek original audio drivers for that board.
I could not find the drives at the Asustek site.
I probably should have just installed an audio card and forgot about the
onboard audio. But then I find this a challenge.
