Perhaps the motherboard NIC is faulty, try an USB to LAN adapter. I used to advise another PCI adapter, but a bad spare NIC blew a motherboard, so now I keep the USB style handy, it comes is handy when the OEM drivers aren't in the Windows OS you are re-installing, too.

I put the system together well over a year ago. Warranty is over.
I was hoping that there is some setting not enabled properly.
The ethernet controller is built-in on the motherboard.
