Just putting in my 2 cents. I had the same problem with Firefox. The new 6.0 was downloading but I also knew it was going to do more damage to toolbars and add ons from previous study. I could not stop the download so I turned off my computer. When I rebooted, my firefox desktop icon completely vanished along with all information that was with it such as 600+ bookmarks. I tried to log on and got an immediate, abrupt error stating that there was "No Longer An Entry Point To The Internet." After the initial panic, I went to Opera and googled the different versions of Firefox. It was a little tricky, but I finally found a download for 5.0. Firefox only wanted to download 6.0. After I reinstalled 5.0(System Restore was no good) everything came back. I ignored the prompts until I was sure the proper patches had been applied to the 6.0 version. I have now downloaded the 6.0.1 version with no problems of any kind. I know I do not have one tenth of the knowledge of many of your pros in this room, but I like to try to help or contribute in any way I can. If my information is incorrect, I am sure that someone will enlighten me as to what needs to be done. I appreciate all the help this group has given me when I really need it.

Don,

If a System Restore does not fix it, you may have a damaged

"winsock layer", which is a Windows Networking function that all programs access when trying to connect to the Internet.
