RE: [Simply Computers] Is there a free driver scanner for windows xp

Rose, you have me confused. Is this your subject? Reason I ask is that your
questions seem different than the subject. That notwithstanding, age and
dirt are the 2 major culprits (of several) of failure in optical drives. So
if it's old then I would suspect it's just in need of replacement, but
you'll only know that after you've taken a shot at cleaning it.

Cleaning is not difficult really but it will require you to remove the drive
from the case, and then open the drive. It's mostly keeping track of screws
and small parts and remembering where they go. Digital cameras help with
reminders of where things go. On the other hand, these drives are cheap and
probably much faster than what you have now.

There are also drive cleaning things you can purchase if you're not up to
the disassembly / reassembly.

Let us know.

My cd rom does not always recognize things that are copied on them. I copied
one game on the computer, but, the next one it didn't recognize it at all on
the tower computer, I am also having problems on the laptop cdrom not
working,

Thank You,

Rose
