[Simply Computers] Problems rebooting old computer

My husband was using an older computer but it failed to reboot.

It has an ATX Motherboard VIS KT133+ 686A chipset
with Award Bios

When he boots it gives one long beep and shuts off again.
We first thought it might be a fan (cpu) going out.

After reading on the net I thought it might be the Ram (it has 3) was going out but after changing it out it worked for about 2 days and is now up to its old tricks.

Any help you can give is appreciated as he wants to do email and surf a bit.
