Re: [Simply Computers] 1999 Packard Bell sick again=was:(unknown)

Lucky kids being in England, the home of so many great Linux Magazines, like LinuxFormat. Pick-up a copy and try using it as a Live DVD to go to Facebook. Can't help you with the printer, but some computer's motherboards fail in less than 6 months, so it may be time to start saving for another one.
When you buy or browse the LinuxFormat magazine, you'll find Linux User Groups listed in England.

Perhaps you'll find someone like me who helps wean off WinXP users by fixing it and dual-booting in an Install Fest...

My partner took his computer down a  couple of times this year to PC World a computer shop in the UK.   It was away two weeks each time, the branch said they were going to

have to send it away as it was time consuming, although it does say that you

repair computers on site in the shop! He was told by the store that they  would

also do a health check. HIs computer is still not working properly the same as it was the first time he took it down in July, he took it down again in October.  He has only had it since December 1999.

HIs printer is now not working properly, cannot print although new drivers have been put in.  Facebook shuts the whole computer down and an error code comes up when he is asked to go into normal mode, think the code begins 000.  He has a Packard Bell.

He belongs to a Tech Guys service about £4 a month, unlimited repairs, seems a waste of money!

MY PC IS STILL NOT WORKING PROPERLY THE SAME AS IT WAS

THE FIRST TIME I TOOK IT DOWN IN JULY, I TOOK IT DOWN AGAIN IN

OCTOBER.

I look forward to your comments.

Many thanks

Liz
