I'm a bit confused about the password as if your accounts are set up
then you should never need to enter the password.
However if you want to stop Thunderbird from checking for mail on
startup you have to change the settings for each account. You do so as
follows.
Tools/account settings; choose the account; click server settings in the
menu under the account; untick ''Check for new messages at startup''; OK.
Does that help? /
