Sounds like the computer is not seeing the camera through USB.
I assume that you are using a program from the camera company.
I avoid installing camera software on my computer mostly because I am
afraid of creating conflicts. I pull out the card and insert it
directly into the computer slot. Most new computers have an SD slot
if that is the card that you have. Before my computer had a slot I
used and external card reader.
The tradeoff is you do not get the editing software that comes with
the camera's program but you avoid any problems created by the
software. The card opens a drive on your computer and you have to
know how to Copy and Paste your photos onto your hard drive.

> Okay guys and gals I have a problem that I need your help on. I own a gateway portable computer. It is only a year old. I have a sony Super steady shot digital camera. It is around 6 or 7 years old but still takes fantastic pictures. I can not see to get the camera to marry up with the computer thru the USB cord. An Icon comes up telling me the system is ready but I get nothing to work with on the screen. The sony calls for xps an so forth and the Gateway has windows 7. Can anyone help
