I am using Eudora (which is similar to
Thunderbird) and what you sent appears to me to
be just the number two (2) reduced in point size.
A subscript should actually fall below the bottom
edge of the line of type. That is, the lower
horizontal bar of the numeral should be at the
level of the bottom of, say, a lower case "p".
The original poster accepted a work around of
making the "H" and "O" larger. Same effect: H2O
but not an actual subscript. (And I don't know if
my demo just above will translate correctly through the Yahoo mail system!)
