Your PC2-4200 should work fine. As you see here, the basic memory for this machine can be either
PC2-3200 or PC2-4200:

This is again confirmed in this memory website:

A definition of of PC2-xxx is halfway down this Wikipedia page:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DDR2_SDRAM
Note that Crucial does 'not' sell the older PC2-3200 orPC2-4200 modules as far as I can see. They
sell the slightly faster, more common PC2-5300. In theory these should be backwards compatible - and
they often are. In practice, I've found that PC2-5300 'sometimes' won't work in computers designed
for PC2-3200 and 4200 (Ours is not to reason why...) - which is why I would recommend going for the
original memory modules in this case, preferably PC2-4200. Older HP Pavilions in particular can be
sensitive to memory requirements. There's also not a great deal of difference in price.
Since you already have some PC2-4200, I'd definitely give that a try first. If it works fine, I'd
suggest buying the maximum if you want to upgrade this computer - i.e. 2x 1 GB of PC2-4200.
