Course it depends on the resolution mainly.
Most images for the web are under 60k, so that's 17 per meg.
17 x 16,000 is more than most people see in a lifetime.
If you do hi-res, then figure 2M per image - even so that's 8000.
I think you're OK in either case ... lol
