Job Description

*The Bureau of Infrastructure Support (BIS) area within the Division of
Enterprise Technology (DET) is interested in procuring two Systems Engineers
with experience in WebSphere System Administration and Management to assist
with current resource demands.
*The work to be performed is as follows:

Installation, maintenance, administration and monitoring of the WebSphere
Software in a multi-platform environment (Linux (SUSE), Windows, AIX)
- Address day to day operations by following our Information Technology
Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Standards. This includes daily review and
management of customer incidents, service requests, and tasks along with
opening the appropriate change control information to document the work
being performed. This would also include maintaining records for asset
management and software license compliance.
- Apply the necessary patches, upgrades, and maintenance to keep the
WebSphere environments up to date and in support of our vendor.
- Monitor and manage the health and capacity of the systems.
- Assist in some of the consulting and research efforts needed for projects
*Specifically, we need a person who has had hands-on Technical experience in
support of software tools such as WebSphere Application Server (6.0 and 7.0)
with Connection Factories and Message-Driven Bean activation specifications
for a large enterprise environment. The candidate must have knowledge of
Perl, Python, or Jython to support our scripts for deployment automation.
Experience and knowledge of other software such as Patchlink, IBM Support
Assistant, IBM Tivoli Performance Viewer, HTML, J2EE, SSL, Load Balancing,
Session Replication, Content Switching, JVM Tuning, WebSphere MQ, and
WebSphere Portal 6.1. Server management concepts etc is desirable.
