You take the hard drive out of the infected computer and install it as a second drive in another computer or if it is a SATA drive, you can use a Thermaltake docking station. The docking station plugs into a good computer using a USB connection and the infected drive plugs into the docking station. Very simple device. It works with 2.5 inch and 3.5 inch drives.

There is also a simple cable device kit that works with either IDE or SATA drives and uses a USB connection to a good computer.
