[Simply Computers] Sound is extremely low please help

 

I have updated my sound drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled them, tested my speakers with my Ipod to find out the speakers work, and I'm about to physically rip my hair out. I have a Dell xps210 and my driver info is: 6/21/2006, 6.0.6000.16386, and it says they are the most updated drivers available. I bought an external usb sound drive and it didn't change anything.

The problem I've been experiencing is the sound is extremely low and for all intensive purposes inaudible. When I test the drivers in the control panel / sound they sound audible with headphones on, but other than that no sound come on past about 1% of the whole volume when you open the sound menu on the task bar of your computer. I am at wit's end please help me.
