Re: [Simply Computers] internal HD problems on a Dell Optiplex GX110

When I looked at Dell installed hard drivers with a Puppy Linux Live CD, the hidden Fat formatted partition was a really C:, but then the new partition that needs to be created and have an OS installed to it becomes C: afterwards. You need a Dell WinXP re-install CD, or be prepared to find drivers or upgrade to Win7 or Linux.
Many times some drivers can not be found and you have to install new cards or a new OS, or trust to your luck at hunting them down.

Greetings group, perhaps someone has some time that they could teach me something. I was given this old dell from a public library and when It turns on the Dell logo screen gives the F1 & F2 setup choice. and this is what I would like to know.

When I chose F1 , the screen says Secondary Hard Disk Drive not found

Alert! Cover was previously removed

Strike F1 key to continue , F2 to run set up utility

A disk error occured

Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart

when I press F1 nothing happens and when Press Ctrl+ALT+Del (it shuts down and then when it starts up it goes thru the same thing.

But when I chose F2 I can get into the settings as follows and what I want to know is :???

What are the default settings for the following

Disk dr.A:3.5 inch, 1.44 MB

Disk dr.B: not installed

Zip Floppy Support (not Installed)

Primary Drive 0 Hard Drive

Primary Drive 1 OFF

Secondary Drive 0 CD-Rom Reader

Secondary Drive 1 unknown Device

Boot Sequence :

Installed Memory 128 MB SDram

CPU Information

Intregated Devices

PCI IRQ Assignment

System Security

Keyboard NumLock On

Report Keyboard Errors Report

Auto Power ON Disabled

Remote wakeup OFF

AC Power Recovery Last

Agai I thank you for your assistance : It's a great learning experience for a beginner
