[Simply Computers] Sound Cards?

 

Hi Gurus..... is there such a thing as a physical sound card? I have a Dell Latitude D-620 that I can't get a peep out of - either live on line or an a cd/dvd. My device manage won't get me a physical piece of hardware but it lists under "sound, video and game controllers" 1. Audio Codecs 2.Legacy Audio Drivers 3.Legacy video capture devices 4.Media control devices 5.Video codecs I have tried all the microsoft and dell updates and I get nothing that works. OOn the download drivers for the BUS deviceit tries to download IDT HIGH Definition Audio CODEC but it goes about halfway and the says "can not install this driver" and gives me a code 10. Code 10 from who?
Any help would be appreciated.
