Subject: Re: [Simply Computers] Memory Questions
Having had the dispiriting experience of my laptop running progressively slower (VOSTRO 1000 with I think a dual core Intel and 2gb mem) I can sympathise with this sufferer. With my limited 'expertise' I blindly try solutions proposed in relevant User Groups or Google, Microsoft even, often not knowing just what in Hall I'm doing. My Vostro has often developed infuriating unforced (?) errors like moving my task bar all over the place seemingly without any intervention from me ( repeat ?). Recently I lost it mysteriously and Uncle Google proposed a free utility to fix it. It was a tiny utility and restored it good and proper at the preferred bottom of my screen in short order. Now here's the point of this boring tale - my Vostro became suddenly much quicker than before, in the matter of opening files i.e. starting programs such as Firefox, O. Express etc. As usual I have no idea why this should have happened and it worries me somewhat as I feel I could just as easily have screwed the whole thing up. An example of this is when I was playing with Dropbox, testing to see if deleting a file in my online Dropbox 'My Documents' folder would simultaneously delete the same in my native My Docs. on the laptop. In the ensuing panic I now can't say that it did or not, BUT upon opening my laptop My Documents I found that several hundred documents had disappeared, ie from the point of the requested deleted file to the file's end! Fortunately I was able to 'copy back' all the delsted files from online Dropbox to my laptop. Henceforth I'll be very careful about how I use Dropbox, useful utility that it is.

Hello,
I see a number of our members have tried to help with this problem, but I suspect we are not understanding it correctly.
If you don't mind, would you clarify what you mean by "My computer is running at a snails pace " ?
