Well, thanks, Joan-in-Reno, I'd already done everything you've advised, having successfully accomplished the task once before in the spring(of the year);-) !!
I'd(apparently) forgotten that a really business-like tug on the tab is required(Who wants a loose hd?) . Once I grit my teeth and really tugged, the hard-drive clicked free.
