Pat,

I see that others have helped you connect using XP, but I'm wondering if that's a good idea.

The school installed Win 7 for "personal use" ... they probably configured XP to be compatible with their network.

When your son-in-law takes the computer back to college, will it still be able to connect to the college network now that you have changed the settings?

Perhaps you're son-in-law should use Windows 7 when at your house ? ... you've already confirmed that it works.
