[Simply Computers] Re: Ip changes

Hi Renee,

Well, that's a lot of information that you hadn't given us before, let's see what we can find out.

1) There is not much on Google about just.exe, but there is this one page:

http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=58667

The user named "Official" seems to think that Malwarebytes can find it, and remove it, although he suggests also using the Kaspersky removal tool (once Malwarebytes shows you the name). He says that just.exe is the originating program, but it spawns other malware with different names, so you have to get them all.

A Yahoo search found this:

http://www.threatexpert.com/files/just.exe.html

2) You said you have reinstalled your OS multiple times, and even taken it back to the factory image once ... what's the difference?

Reinstalling Windows, or restoring the factory image is the same thing, just done in different ways. The first one requires a Windows installation disk, and the second requires a computer manufacturer's Recovery disk, but they both do basically the same thing. (The recovery disk will also restore appropriate drivers)

3) What do you mean by other routers that are in your bedroom, back patio, etc.

If you mean that you are walking around with your phone and seeing the various wifi routers that are available in your neighborhood, you can ignore that. Just turn off your wifi.

Klink uses your phone connection (EVO, 4G, etc.), not wifi (according to its website) Turn off your wifi on your phone when you're tethering.

4) Klink may be highly recommended, but when I went to download the demo program, they asked me to sign in to "AppBrain" using a Google, Facebook or Twitter account

The twitter sign in page gave this warning:

"This application will be able to:

•Read Tweets from your timeline.
•See who you follow, and follow new people.
•Update your profile.
•Post Tweets on your behalf."

Excuse me? I don't think so !

Did you sign in to AppBrain with your Google account and password? And now your Google email is disrupted?

5) An alternative:

Klink supports (works with) Ubuntu Linux, which is free. Ubuntu can also be run directly from CD without installing to the hard drive.

As a test, I would install Ubuntu on your computer in a separate partition from Windows. Install klink and use it with Ubuntu to send/receive your email. Ubuntu is immune to any Windows malware.

ps ... are you local to me (Southern Calif), I'd like to take a look at this computer!
