Hey All,
Okay, I got one of these Dell C-400 laptops I bought and I can't get it to recognize anything. The first windows screen (black with a white bar and the windows l0dows logo) gets about half way and the switches to a dos type screen that tells me it can not find a bootable device. On page 1 of the bios, the hard drive is recognized (200005 MB) on BIOS page one. Diskettes A & B Drives. along with Module Bay Cable read "Not installed: (I have a Que Drive with a Dell Restore disk (WIN XP) plugged in to the only USB Port on the machine and it is powered up but not recognized). I have gone to page 2 of the boot order and have set every one of these as the primary boot device.
Internal HDD
C/Dock or C/Dock II
Diskette Drive
Module Bay Cable HDD
CD/DVD/CD RW Drive
Outboard NIC
Cardbus NIC
I have rebooted with every one of thes and it keeps reading "Unable to find a bootable device - yet the hard drive is recognize in page 1 of the BIOS. WHAT am I missing here Gurus? I need some wisdom.
Thanks in advance
hagie
